I have a Winchester M70 in the 243. Every deer has been a one shot kill. My son took his first buck with it. It's a great round.

Re: Rossi 92 in half-round half-octagon...
I bought one back in the mid 90's and have not seen another since. Looks good, shoots well, and is not very common. What more could you ask.
Neat seeing all the replies about having one.

Sorry for your loss. It is hard to let your dog buddies go. I know, I have lost two Golden Retrievers over the years and still tear up when I talk about them.

Re: Any savage 99 fans here ???
I bought my first one at Tulsa this year. It is in 300 Savage made around 49-50, 99EG.
Great looking rifle. I will probably get a few more.

Re: Need Advice Savage 99 - Updated!
Salvo, I will keep check on this thread. I just bought a 99 in the neighborhood of the one you got, in the 300 Savage. If you decide to move the die, brass, etc., I would be interested. The one I got, while not a safe queen, was in nice shape. NO extra holes, wood in good shape, great bore, etc. I m...

Thanks for the information Pete. Still learning about these guns. They seem to be a nicely engineered firearm. I will take mine to the range soon.

Re: Possible aquisitions Updated
Alan, are you sure the Savage is a 99E? The E was manufactured from 1922 to 1934 in the serial number range of 238,000 to 344,000. This is per Douglas Murray in his book on the Savage 99. The E isn't shown chambered in the .308. I just bought my first one in Tulsa. It is a 99EG chambered in the Sava...
