I have a Winchester M70 in the 243. Every deer has been a one shot kill. My son took his first buck with it. It's a great round.

Alan, are you sure the Savage is a 99E? The E was manufactured from 1922 to 1934 in the serial number range of 238,000 to 344,000. This is per Douglas Murray in his book on the Savage 99.
