I dont think Illinois accepts any other states carry credentials.. be they resident or non resident. I live in Oklahoma... our CCW is good in over 30 states... when I travel, I skip Illinois altogether... or bag the gun per Illinois regs... buy gas in Iowa or Kentucky and try not to stop until I hit...

Long reattas or cactus ropes (60 ft or longer) were not uncommon . After you catch and jerk your cow... there is a enough rope so you can take a 'dalley' (wrap) around the horn.... hold the end... and control that cow as you walk up to it and do your work. The 30 and 35 footers we see so often today...

So... I guess I should order a new spring, pin and the retaining pin for this gun. I still get a mis fire every now and then. Even if I decide to "live" with the problem spares are a nice thing to have around. I can push the pin out by hand... and by eye it looks like I get about .030"...

When I got home... I shot the firing pin hole full of Kroil and let it sit a little while.. ran out back and got "12 for 12" I'll stand it up in a corner and let some more Kroil work on it over night. The pin moves freely... I don't feel any binding or crunchies that would indicate a broke...

I expect this version to be a little bit darker. True Grit (v1) was supposed to make you feel good... the wrongs were righted, everyone gets a happy ending (except Glen Campbell who takes one for the team). Daemon can act. Thanks Danny... My dad does the cinnemon too. He was diagnosed with Type 2 around my age... he lost about 30 pounds and stayed off the meds for a long long time. He takes about a half a daily dose of a med to keep his insulin right now days... after 20 years of being "diagnosed". I wonder ...

Been there... I have 3 guns that stay in those hard plastic cases... I really need to mark them.

Showed up at a quail feild one day... with the 11 87 instead of the much lighter 870 I have with a 21 inch barrel and English style stock. 12 bore is 12 bore... changed the choke tubes and got a work out!

I posted a photo of my rig a few months ago.... I rig my scabbard on the off side, butt forward and stick the carbine in lever down, sights up. Carry a rifle in a scabbard often enough it will get some "patina" pretty fast.....I made the mistake of tucking my little Marlin 357 in sights do...

my guy here in OKC says to keep the verbals down to "name rank and serial number"... Doug figures most of the folks he's worked with on shootings get kinda chatty... and that works against them when other details come into play in the days following the shooting.

That saddle horn pattern shows up on a lot of 1880-90's Texas built saddles. Any idea were that photo was taken?

If he's not a law man, he could be full time help-like a ranch foreman or something. Who knows?--- but it's a neat photo.

I am told that Austin is close to good hunting and fishing. The problem is ... there is very little public land in Texas. I am cheap... my handguns are stowed in oily old cotton socks ( like for my feet socks)... The socks are what I finish wiping the guns down with before I store them in the lock box or safe so they all have some Break Free or Remoil residue all over them. Got to be careful with those gun rugs... seen...

I had a Red Letter 250 around for a little bit. Shame... sometime in it's past some one had PAINTED the gun with some sort of black paint... ugly but functional. Good shooter... accurate with the issued iron sights. The one I had would hang up a little if the gun was tilted sideways during cocking.....

Rolling Rock used to be a local beer in PA or Ohio... Bud must have bought them up since I last saw any (been awhile).

There was another East Coast brew called Mickey's.... we would save that for when the good stuff was gone.

One mans trash ...

Thousands of those glass negatives (especially from the US Civil war and later) got recyled back in the old days... glazing for "hot houses". Potted plants thriving--- as the images faded in the light.... eventually broken and swept away.

I have heard that a few rural agencies still allow the SAA for carry in the West, Southwest parts of the US. Not problem with the caliber... a 357 is a 357.. but the SAA is slow to reload if you have to. 45 Colt would be a decent choice also. Keep in mind the 1911 is a "traditional western gun&...

My Dad had some see throughs similar to that on a pre 64 Winchester he scoped ...well, pre 64. I think they are Weavers, he had a K4 on his carbine.
