Re: OT Sako Bavarian Carbine
I love the looks of them. On the Sako site, says it is available in 338 Federal. That would be the ticket for me, except it is awful light for my tastes. I like a heavier rifle, for a 243, 257, 7mm-08 etc, smaller calibers, would be okay for me, but when you start getting to .308, I am inclined for ...

I kind of agree with 86'er. I have one, a 308 and have shot two more, a 243 and an '06. The '06 seemed a bit out of balance, but only shot it once. The only hang up I have with my 308 is the trigger pull. Had it worked on by local gunsmith, he did manage to bring it down some, but still heavy in my ...

Ruger is not cataloging any in 338 Federal. Sako still making them. I have the XLR, don't necessarily care for the laminate stock, I am bit old school, but I wanted the longer barrel. I had Mic McPherson "tune it up" and work on the trigger (right at about 2#s which is perfect for me.) He ...

I used a Marlin 1894 357 mag exclusively for deer hunting for years. Then the state made the gun illegal, as it doesn't have the required energy of 900 ft-lbs at 100yds. Don't get me started on that whole can of worms. Anyway, I used 180gr Federal HP's, under 50 yards, this was one dead deer, and in...
