My favorite had to be The Outlaw Josey Wales, following Forrest Carters book Gone to Texas, the second part in the two book series was The Vengence Trail of Josey Wales. I heard the movie was made but was bad. Forrest Carter wrote two other books before his early death, Meet me on the Mountain about...

JerryB, It was a memorable moment to the 20+ LEO's in attendance when the first 36" were blown through. It was magnified by the fact we were spending several hours shooting gelatin and only getting about max 18" of penetration. Of course the the main point of the seminar was to show how th...

Re: 45LC load data opinion.

Paco has a great article in the Article section of http://www.leverguns.com, if you start there it will probably be your answer. He goes through the different strengths of rifles and a lot of loads for them. The only load I have used in my 45C Henry was 18.5 grains of 2400 with a 290grain RCBS Keith...

Thank you, I will give it a try. That looks really good. I will have to substitute liquid smoke for the real thing and cook slow in the oven until I get a smoker built/bought. I know it won't be the same, but hopefully it will be close. Thanks for all the little tips too.

Re: OT - World - Russia v Georgia - are you guys watching this?

I think if they take Georgia they are in for the guerilla warefare we have faced in Iraq, especially with the training their troops had in Iraq taking it every day. They are going to want to return the education, especially in their own country.

That is good to hear. I have most of the 50's, some in between up to the 80's then to current. I have gotten tired of all the black gun and military articles. It seemed they used to mix up the interest areas but have faltered in the last decade.

Re: Russia v Georgia - are you guys watching this?

Looks like we are about 24 hours from another invasion if the Russians don't back down a little. Georgia has around the 3rd largest troop strength in Iraq with the coalition. They are recalling those combat troops, trained and ready to go. This is a lot more serious than our posturing with Iran.

Re: OT-What does your RCBS 255 grain Keith really weigh?

I used the 290 Keith from the RCBS 45-270 mould for the last three years under 18.5 grains of 2400. I killed a 4 point (WC) with a Henry Big Boy last year with this load. The Saeco sounds promising I'll have to look at the design I'm not familiar with their moulds.

The reason I am looking for this info is because I want to get as close to the 255-260 weight for the 18.5 2400 in the lighter sixguns and the 22 gr load for the Blackhawk. I had an original Ideal mould, I sold to a collector. It was really chewed up and cast awful bullets most of the time. I would ...

I am not familiar with the process to make a Sabot or cost of moulds and equipment, but you would think their would be a lot more calibers available. It would add to the versatility of any rifle or pistol, as long as only a little experimenting would be required to get acceptable accuracy. I wouldn'...

I am assembling 100 130gr and 100 150gr loads for my daughters to get used to their Marlins before we go hunting. I wanted to start low and work them up. My oldest was kissed by the scope on her girlfirends 270 and I wanted something light to get her over any scope anxiety.

I checked IMR's website they show a range of 21.5 to 23, with 23 gr's at 35,500 CUP. I'll stick with their load data. Anyone tried the Lee loadings. Seems like the pressure would be way beyond the range they are showing.

Need help IMR, 4198 which reloading data for 30-30?

I have a can of IMR 4198, unopened, and guessing about 10 years old. I am reloading for the 30-30. Lee's Modern Reloading reprinted in 2002 shows a range of 25.5 to 28gr's for a 150 grain jacketed.(37,300 CUP) My Lyman 46th edition, reprint 1984, shows a range of 20.6 to 23.5gr's for a 150 jacketed....
