I'd say go with Dillion. A progressive makes a poor choice for someone just starting reloading. But you're experienced so buy what you will eventually end up with first. I disagree that a Dillon progressive makes a poor choice for someone just starting because of 2 processes you've overlooked. With...

One of the best things about living in our valley is that we have an equestrian center about 2 blocks and a 4 minute walk down the street from our home with over 35 miles of trails to ride just in our valley. Re: Armor on a budget
The M48 was the Patton? Yes, the M48 Patton tank was a replacement for the M47 Patton tank. It had the same basic armament; a 30 cal co-axial MG, a M-2 50 cal TC MG and a 90 mm main gun. The M60 never was officially named like the Patton was as it was considered an improvement on the M48 design. Be...

I'm all about Armor and Main Battle Tanks. But they were certainly NOT on a budget! At approximately 4 gallons of diesel to the mile, they sucked up a lot of fuel. Further, the 30 cal coax MG and 50 cal TC's MG spit out dollars every time you pulled the trigger. Then the main gun ate hundreds of dol...

I've also found that they clean up much easier than brass and as the nickel plating is smoother, they slide into the resizer easier than my brass ones.
In addition, I use nickel brass to separate my lighter SA pistol loads from my levergun loads of the same caliber.

I think that all of the responses support my post; the preferred barrel length and sighting setup is mostly a function of preferred use, not an absolute rule. But that only seems logical to me as you'd likely not bring a bolt gun to a machine gun match or a machine gun to a 1,000 yd sniper match.

Got both a 20" carbine and 24" rifle in .357 mag and they both are good at what they're outfitted for. The answer you seek is totally dependent upon what you want out of your .357 mag levergun. The different barrel lengths have different strengths and none are perfect for everything. The 2...
