A- HA! ! I asked on the old board sometime back but thought the dovetail was being pointed out about halfway up the square base. NOW I see what is being pointed out! :D I guess I should have gone to a larger monitor and glasses a while back... :? I have no idea if this is the original barrel or what...

Dovetail a Marlin 1889 front sight?
At sometime in it's life, my .38-40 1889 had it's front sight filed down to a nub. It's been reblued and the stocks refinished so it has zero value other than as a shooter. I've thought about building up the front sight but my brazing skills aren't up to snuff for this IMO. What possible issues coul...

Another Win 150 question
The earlier question about Win 150's reminded me that someone asked a tech question on another forum where I play cat herder. I figured I'd "ask" here and pass the info along: Winchester Model 150, 22 Cal Leaver Action. - need a fix ! Hi folks - I’ve got an old Winchester Mod. 150 with a...

Re-calibering a .30-30, options?
.30-30 336s seem to be pretty prevalent around here. Could one be rebarrelled to .38-55? Would there be more involved than just a barrel swap?
Would it be worth the time/effort/cash if I was just wanting a project?

The quote is from a reply JimT made to someone. I found it in a thread during a search for something else. It struck me as quite appropriate and something I should strive for in my own life. I doubted it as well until I heard it on 2 different outlets and they kept saying it was gusting up to that. No idea what the sustained winds were.Noah Zark wrote:I kinda doubt it was a 155 mph wind.
I'm wondering if they original story indicated 155 kmh? I haven't done the conversion yet from kmh to mph.

The plastic sabot wont ever hurt the bore of a rifle. True but speed still equals some amount of heat. I can usually tell when a shotgun has had a bunch of rounds through it without the bbl being cleaned due to the plastic wad residue. I'd even get it in mine when I was shooting a bunch of skeet. S...

H&R Buffalo Classic question
I see these come with Lyman front and Williams rear sights but are they tapped for glass as well?
I'd probably never use a scope more than once or twice on it but the option would be nice.
You never know when you'll need to thin out one of those zombie buffalo herds...
Thanks!
