A decent 94, flat band 32 Win. special with period receiver sights or a well abused SAA 1965 .357 in good shooting shape?

Re: 300 Sav in Marlin 336

Is there any documental proof of a 30-30 or 32 speecial setting off a primer in a tublar mag? There is in 45 cal WFN in 336 or 95 Marlin. Placing 30-30 rounds on a flat surface loaded with 130gr hp does not touch the primer. I have the mag blocked so only two will fit in the mag so only have a two s...

Re: Johnson County Cattle War

I am glad you posted it. I just started to read the Banditti book that my dad received in the forties as a gift. It has a copyright date of 1930 and I do not believe it has ever been read. You brought forth some history and I do not believe any feathers were pushed the wrong way. History is history ...

Another book, unless I missed something, is Banditti of the Plains, by
I.G. McPherren. (Cattlemen's Invasion of Wyoming in 1882).
Some names are not the same.

Re: 480 Achilles leverguns

nby, I don't think so but the method works very well. I have also used an 8mm with a spacer to crimp 310 martini heeled bullets. Works great, if I had a 41 colt I bet something could be used for that also. Belt Mountain was going to make some with a spacer but do not know if he will, or does. If you...

the 480 Achilles being an outside lubed bullet and heeled I was lubing by hand. Sometimes this was unhandy. This may be of interest to other lever gunners. Doughty Enterprises opens up sizer dies to what ever diameter is wanted. He opened a .358 for me to .477 to use in a Lyman 45 to Lube only the 4...

Re: OT - need help with a grip panel graphic design

Thinking about this some more today, and the picture of the dog and the quills. This is just about right when you think of a lot of people who have stepped in to help others in a combative situation to help solve the problem. Does not have to be deadly but may have been. So often the helper gets a f...

Double check it is not full of lead. Get a oversize brush, brass and work on it some you might start getting some lead out. Just a thought.

I have a 1931 30WCF cut to 18 inches off a '55. Has the rear dove tail cut and drilled and tapped with two holes for a front sight. Barrel looks good, if interested $65.00 shipped. Has a dove tail cut in the bottom for the magazine hanger used on the '55.

When these were first announced the pressure listed was 28000psi for loading in the 45-70. In a more sane mode, Lyman loading for the Springfield trap door pressure. Reports from Canada with a 30-06, factory loads sliped the face. Think it would be great fun and safer to use BP and we know that woul...

Re: OT-What does your RCBS 255 grain Keith really weigh?

Reo,
The mold you have was designed by Dave Scovil and the cast weight you are getting is about right. My Lyman casts a 265 and the RCBS casts a 250gr weight. I personaly like the heavier DS design. But they all work well.

If you shoot cast bullets a lot it can cause some problems with lots of leading in the ports. I find accuracy with cast is not as good out of a ported barrel versus a non ported. Jacket do not seem to make a difference. My findings any way. Others may vary.

311291, believe it was first made in 1906 and was the first gas check design. The old timers used it for all the thirtys. You asked for one for all of them, so this will work. Frank Marshells favorite for the 30-30.
If this is wrong information we will know.

Try finding the information Bowen has on his paradox barrel. Seems Lee may have made a special bullet with an extra wide grease grove.
