Re: OT - Mil Surplus ammo
I hope you find your 91/30 to be a nice shooter. I have a few that are. Nice M91 Hobie! It looks like what they call a "Peter the Great" made at the Tula arsenal, if I am remembering right. I have one from 1916 with the "Eagle" scrubbed. I hope to put it back on there soon. BTW, ...

Re: Politics - Chicago twice as deadly as Iraq
Hi guys, I'm totally with you on how foolish the gun laws are, and how un constitutional many local and state governments are, but the stats aren't equivalent. To get a truer picture, you would have to compare law enforcement deaths in Chicago vs. military deaths in some equivalent part of iraq, and...

The beginning of the end was the FDR administration... You're on the right track, but you really need to look about 70 years earlier if you want to get to the administration truly at the root of the problem. You give FDR too much credit. scott If I'm doing th math right, I'm with you for sure. Of c...

Re: POLITICS - America is dying.
...By 2010-2012 this once great nation will be dead. That or the few Patriots that are left will start from scratch. Regardless of the "government" the Constitution IS. +1 I also agree with the thought that we should keep on doing all that we can, to stave off the evil, and to prepare for...

Turnbull restoration on the local news
Hi guys,
Thought you might like to see this
http://www.10nbc.com/
A gun friendly news bit on network TV. At least it wasn't negative!
Click on the "Bloomfield gun shop" when it comes up on the video screen. Don't know how long it will be there.
take care,
Tom

Tom, I guess it'll be a while before I can afford to do the first one. Any chance of a price break after the first coupla guns? I was looking at 3 Vaqueros and 1 or 2 '94's. How far are you backlogged? As I put up more info you will see that the price can vary by the amount of coverage and complexi...

I think part of the impetus was to establish the viability of the levergun platform as a dangerous game rifle. Of course, Turnbull Restoration specializes in leverguns. The PH did order a rifle on the spot, after seeing how well it performed. I inlayed the gold lines on the rear sight for it... take...

I have put up a new web site.
It is very simple, but it is easy for me to put up photos, and it is inexpensive, and supports a cause I believe in.
Anyway, here is the link-

The only reason I tried it was to see what it would look like, after reading a thread discussing the subject a few days ago. An experiment, if you will! I wanted to see if the number 1 would extract better than the reports others gave about their leverguns, which often seemed to fail to extract. The...

45-70 410 range report
Hi folks, Decided to try a few 410 shells through my number 1 2 1/2 inch federal, #6 shot. 4 shots, all 4 ejected fine, one split, the other three bulged. here is the target- http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v486/gravertom/4570410targetreduced.jpg I decided not to mark the holes at the 5 yard line....

I'm very interested in the 22's, but the Big Boys are ,indeed, exceedingly ugly. There is just no way around it. I also don't like the forward loading feature on that type of rifle. Doesn't bother me on the rimfires, since they all seem to come that way. The weight would bother me also. I don't hate...

It would be interesting to see a study showing what a model 94 made in 1900 cost as a percentage of an average workers income, and what that would represent in today's dollars. I don't know how to do such a thing, but it might be interesting to see. I wonder if we expect too much quality for too lit...

Re: Who has ALL they NEED? NOT want, NEED?
Sometimes I ponder whether I should buy anything more or even thin down to what I will actually regularly use and get really good with those few guns. Seriously. I'm there, although I DID buy a second 30-30 on Thursday! It is the same gun as my other, post 64 pre safety (A new collectible category,...

K8Bor, Since your rifle is pre 64, the receiver should re blue nicely. If you have the means of removing the barrel and re installing it, you could rust blue that receive yourself quite nicely, with patience. Even if you can't yank the barrel off, you still may be able to do it. Salvo, that was a gr...

You might want to invest in a factory letter to determine what the original configuration of the gun was, as it left the factory. A good restorer will be able to properly remove the engraving, or weld it up then re polish if it is too deep to safely remove. In that case, case coloring would be best,...
