Re: Do any of you use Paypal?

I've had no negative issues with PayPal in over ten years of use. They've even clawed back money from sketchy sellers. Combined buying and selling I have over 1000 transactions. There is no easy alternative to PayPal for taking online payments. There's more pertinent 2a battles for me to fight. You...

Re: Short nosed bullets and feeding in a Win 94?

We have two Winchester 94s in 30-30, one 1976 and one 1980 manufacture dates. The '76 feeds short bullets just fine but the '80 appears to be dropping the lifter too early and the bullet doesn't get into the chamber as the lifter falls away. This happens with a 93 gr Lee RN design as well as an NOE ...

I've got a short/low 17 on my 94. I'm 99% sure it's the .404" one and it works great with a Williams Foolproof on the rear.

Re: Getting a line up HIGH in a tree...how...???

There's a guy at our club who does tree work. He can rig a line like nobody I have ever seen. I found this on a search for "arborist throw line" https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tLTEzaIz7NM The first one shown, the "cradle toss" is how he does it. Hi method is to throw the line ov...

Re: For you older guys....

Mine is a Model 59 Winchester shotgun, the one with the fiberglass wrapped barrel. Wanted one when it was introduced, had my own money for it. But since my father saw no need for a shotgun himself there was no reason I should have one. They discontinued it in 1965, I never saw one in a gun shop, eve...

IMO, probably not.

There is a certain mindset that believes more $$ somehow equates with superior goods, sometimes linked to an ego driven attitude something like, "Look how much money I can spend".

I have used them, would not own one. Way too hard to make square cuts with them. Maybe with some sort of fixture to keep them square they would work OK.

Re: Winchester Model 94 Scope Mount ?

Going by my fuzzy memory I seem to recall that Bushnell had what was probably the first "scout scope" concept waaaayyy back when they first introduced their Phantom handgun scope. Long eye relief scope mounted ahead of the receiver. The first Phantom was 1.5X, again IIRC.

Re: Where Are All The Rabbits?

Around here most of the rabbits and woodchucks end up inside coyotes. Used to be you could cruise the backroads and shoot woodchucks(right from the car, it didn't used to be illegal) before the ahy got too high or after it was cut. Rabbits were all over, in quantity, and used to bunch up as the hayf...

Re: Obesity in our components industry

I could not agree more on the ridiculous size of the Federal Primer packaging. One has to be quite careful, when transferring Fed. primers into a primer flipper as the box is very near larger than the flipper tray. I'm not pressed for storage space but don't have a lot of extra room for the obese bo...

There is a care package heading your way tomorrow with 346 NOE 311008 and 320 Lee 3**-93-RN inside. Both are sized to .311 and lubed with NRA 50-50. The lube may not fare too well in your sum...

I have a mess of light bullets that I have been playing with for just what you want to do. 93 gr Lee RN loaded with anywhere from 2.7 to 3.5 grs Bullseye. NOE 311008, listed as 115 gr, mine come out at 120-124, depending on alloy used. So far I have only shot them over 5 grs Bullseye and they have p...

Another 94 Winchester Found a New Home

This one now belongs to my wife, Linda. Engineered an "in house" swap for the 94 we already have which is going to be the subject of a JES rebore/rechamber to 35/30-30. Before she would relinquish that one we had to find one to replace it. She said it would have to shoot as good as "h...

Were 1894 Winchesters factory drilled for receiver sights?

I was cruising LGSs today for a suitable 94 Win. to rebore for my 35/30-30 project. No luck but one shop had an 1894 in 25-35. He said he only had that one 1894 so I was a little surprised when I noticed a really beautifully blued levergun in the rack with the appropriate holes for a receiver sight....

Yesterday I was browsing a rack of leverguns at one of the LGSs. While I kinda/sorta knew Winchester had gone to a cheaper process for the carrier it never really connected until I looked inside rifles with both stamped sheetmetal carriers and others that appear to be cast. The only 94 I have here d...

86'er If you have 358Win or 357 herrett dies you could use that to expand the cases and size the necks. Use a 375Win die for the case head. 35Herrett seater for the bullets. When I was campaigning a 357 Herrett (14") Contender in IHMSA I was fireforming 357H cases by firing 30-30 loads in the ...
