A 1905 HE was made before they started heat treating. No way would I assume it's as strong as a 92 of any vintage. Back then they sold "rifle only" .32-20 loads and I'm sure more than a few were fired in handguns. I don't know if any blew up but I wouldn't want to do it .

Thanks for replying, I know it's really an impossible question. I was just looking fo a ballpark guess. After I posted here I did use google, and what I saw there looks like a trapdoor "forager" shotgun. As far as I can tell from the internet, if it's real it would be worth some pretty goo...

Saw a Trap Door rifle today...
It was hanging on a wall a few feet behind a counter in a little antique shop. I was broke so I didn't ask to look it over. Wood looked original and the metal looked reblued. Assuming it has rifling and is mechanically ok, what are these things going for these days? I don't imagine it will be going ...

I got a chance to shoot it today. I had some hand loads sitting around from a few years ago, when I could afford to shoot in matches. These are commercial cast no doubt sized .451 or .452. The 230 gr lrn has a light charge of 700x and the 200 gr SWC has a mid range charge of Titegroup, all in mixed ...

I will be shooting mostly cast out of it, as I've read that too. OTOH, Elmer also recommended a load for them with a 250 gr SWC and 7.5 gr of Unique! Basically Skeeter's load in a case with maybe 60% of the volume of the .44 special. I guess Skeeter wrote it up too, the in a later article admitted h...

I should have mentioned I have a partner, or we'd probably never get a shot doing this. We "surround" a tank as well as two guys can then pop up over the rim and hope they flush towards one or the other of us.

Desert ducks
I had another good day cruising the stock tanks looking for ducks. They're getting spooky. I think the ducks down here now have been shot at all the way from Canada. This is the only one out of about 3 dozen that was close enough to shoot at.

If you're getting into front stuffers allow me to recommend the Dixie Gun Works catalog. Worth every penny as it's not just a catalog but a reference tome as well. When I was dumb teenager in my mountain man phase I learned just about all I needed to know about muzzleloading from it.

It's not a problem. It just means your bigger than "standard" bullets are hard enough to not be swaged down by the brass. Shoot them and enjoy.
