Re: Oklahoma Tornado Relief Donation:Salvation Army vs Red C

My dad was an aircrew member (top turret gunner) on a B 24 Bomber during WWII....he was shot down and very badly wounded....spent a day or two floating in a raft with 3 other crewmen.....he finally ended up at Drew Field Hospital (I think) in Tampa. He told me that the Red Cross would come around p...

Re: Reloading Calipers?

Beware though - some of the Starrett's at the low price end are now made in China. I have a cheapo pair of PLASTIC ones :o I use the most for day-to-day measurements when +/- 1/100th is ok (which most times it is for reloading), but I get out the better ones when needed. When I really want precisio...

...I had my hands on a C-Centennial a few years back, I thought it looked Gaudy. Pressed in graphics (?) etc. Like you, I like the traditional looking rifles. Still leaning towards the Carbine. Yes, they have stamped "engraving", the maple leaves on the receiver, and the "Canadian Ce...

Re: Trail Boss = Cabela's.

None online, but with a 2 can limit it's not really worth it with the hazmat fee. I did find a few 4lb cans of Titegroup on line a few weeks back and even with the hazmat fee that wasn't too bad given the quantity and a few other types thrown in on the same order. What a crummy time to get into rel...

Re: Trail Boss = Cabela's.

Varget seems to be in good supply again at local shops here in NH. Nice to see. IMR seems to be filling the shelves again here on the boarder. Been shopping for TB for two months and called Cabelas just the other day with no luck as almost predicted till yesterday. If I was having trouble... though...

Re: Winchester 1894 Thoughts....

The carbines are about the best for a carry/working gun, they are short enough to be extrememly handy, long enough to take much of the bark away that the 16" barrel guns have. I like earlier guns for several reasons, though don't look down on later guns if in decent shape. Certain later models...

Re: Winchester 1894 Thoughts....

Still a lot of pre-64s around in the carbine and if you're patient, you can still find one at a reasonable price. Pristine examples are pricey, yes, but I still see a few "well broke-in" examples at estate sales and pawn shops that are quite reasonable as in, say, $300-450. The good news ...

Winchester 1894 Thoughts....

Looking for an 1894 but, which one? Would like a Pre-64 for nostalgia in a 30-30 Cal. There seems to be so many variations or versions (?) available. Any thoughts of what works for you and for me to consider to help me along. I have a Browning 1886, NIB, Now (Just Waiting on my dies to arrive). It w...

Re: Upgraded Marlin 1895 Cowboy

I think that it looks great! I like the looks of a curved buttplate; when I shoulder mine, I position the buttplate just off of my shoulder, the bottom of the crescent is pointed just under my armpit. (kind of hard to describe). I also usually have a jacket on when I shoot it which does help dampen...

It would depend on your comfort level with the results and what you are trying to achieve. Restock it or live with the results.

We all remember Hurricane Katrina and the Red Cross buying computers with the donated money. From my personal experience with the RC.... Not worth my time to have a conversation with them. Salvation Army is the only way to go!

Re: Lee Factory Crimp Die?

I have experienced the same issue with RCBS dies. .45LC and .44Mag. After several individuals have looked my Reloads over and over... No one can quite put their finger on the cause either. Initially we thought the Brass was catching the leading edge of the crimp groove and pulling it down some.... A...
