Re: Springfield Armory 1911-A1

If you use stake on replacement sights instead of having a dovetail cut...wide tenon.

I had a mil spec for a few years and it served me fine. Killed a seven point buck with it that was very determined to live. Don't recommend hydrashoks; they just don't expand at all after hitting fur.

Re: Barrel cleaning on the pellet gun

Hi, I used to shoot air rifle competitively in college. We had the cleaning pellets but I can't ever remember using them. I'd go with them over a rod. If bore snake makes a .17 model I'd use that. Perhaps you'd be well served to get a pellet sizer if you are seeking the best accuracy out of your set...

I've also heard one could use .454 bullets to achieve the seal with the Cas rodent flatulence loads.

Re: the new henry 1860

I'd even settle for an American made 1860 Henry in 44/40 centerfire. +1 After how clean I've seen the .44-40 run I'd say that's a brilliant idea. For folks not intimate with it, it's a bottleneck case that does beautifully at sealing the chamber at lower smokeless and BP pressures. Had I onl...

Re: the new henry 1860

"IF" he just imports Uberti made guns, then I won't be interested in the least. Why? What's wrong with an Uberti? Oly Nothing at all. I've got a Codymatic that runs like a scalded cat. I think folks would like to see the Henry Company make the Henry Rifle. I'm interested. I sure hope they...

Re: 7.62x39, anyone partake?

I have a Mini-30 and it is fine for 75 yards or less. I wouldn't want to use it on anything other than deer or smaller. Based on the bullet weight and velocity, it just isn't as powerful as a .30-30. I bought it for something to use on pigs at 25 to 50 yards, and have yet to use it for that. My lev...

Re: 7.62x39, anyone partake?

I'd certainly have to agree with Piller. The .308" bore of his Mini Thirty does give him greater flexibility with bullet selection over the .311, but there is only so much gas going into that little tank. If good marksmanship is achieveable, the big magazine has its advantages, as a lot of a li...
