Re: Montana Antelope With A 1877 Sharps

Hunting is as much about the gun as it is the animal you are hunting...Sure, it isn't easy packing a 12 pound gun around, but there is a lot about hunting that isn't easy. Quoted for truth. If there's one thing better than making a great stalk and taking a beautiful animal like that...it's doing it...

Re: Life Skills: "How To Speak to Women"

If a man is alone in the forest...with absolutely no one else to hear him...and he speaks...

...is he still wrong?

Re: M1A Scout rifle complete!

Yes, that's an Ultimak on my gun. I looked at the Amega Ranges and the M14.ca mounts as well, and was actually going to go with the latter since it's Canadian-made, but I found the Ultimak on a gunshow table and took it home. It installs very easily and works beautifully, keeps the scope nice and lo...

Re: M1A Scout rifle complete!

I'm more of a lurker than a poster on here, but this thread caught my eye. I have a Norinco M305 (a Chinese clone of the M1A which is very popular up here in Canuckistan), and have had it set up as a scout-style rifle for the past year. These guns are not known for terrific accuracy, and the several...

Re: marlin cowboys with short barrel?

Well, I called my buddy up to tell him that I would take it, but unfortunately for me one of the deceased gentleman's nephews blew a gasket when he heard the old man's guns were being sold off and talked the executor into holding off on any further sales. I'm a bit disappointed, especially consideri...

Re: marlin cowboys with short barrel?

Okay, guys, thanks for the info. Do you know if these were JM, Rem, or both?

Trying to get the gun's caretaker (he's executing an estate) to provide useful information is like pulling teeth.

marlin cowboys with short barrel?

Greetings, gents. I tried the search function without luck, so I'll ask here: what can anyone tell me about an 1895 Marlin Cowboy in .45-70, with octagonal 18 or 18.5 inch barrel? I'm familiar with the 26-inch model, but not the short version. Were these JM-made guns, or Rems, or both...or neither? ...

Re: Hammertime Gets Some New Leather!!

That looks great......Who made it? A fella out of Calgary just down the highway from me made it. Its a hobby for him and not a full fledged career as he works in the oil patch up here in Alberta. it was a three month wait but well worth it...... :D Would that be "coho" from CGN?

takedown BLR...good idea or bad?

Greetings all! I'm thinking of celebrating the non-end of the world by getting a gun, and I'm eying the takedown BLR. Does anyone have anything good or bad to say about these things? Im wondering specifically if the long-action BLR's are significantly slower and/or less comfortable to cycle than the...
