yes I am wondering about the quality of the engraving and the firearms. They are Uberti manufactured; not sure about the oak case. I'm also wondering if they were made as a set. I'm looking for any info you all may have on these, good and bad.

Savage 99 ??

I found a Savage 99 at a local gun shop yesterday; the unusual thing about this one was the scope and mount. The rifle was very nice with original sights removed and blanked off. The optics are a Bausch & Lomb fixed power scope with a Bausch & Lomb scope mount. The elevation and windage adju...

have you guys ever used the de-glosser liquid you can get at the hardware store? it will cut the gloss; if you keep applying it, the finish will eventually be removed (takes a lot of rubbing).

Engraving

Is there a big difference in the looks of a 1866 or 1873 winchester (uberti, etc) with laser engraving vs hand engraving? would the laser engraving be priced equal to one that is hand engraved?

would someone post some photos showing the difference?

Re: finish on new browning

its on the outside of the barrel. looks like the color of brown paste shoe polish on a rag.

the gun was fairly clean and had been shot.

BROWNING 81 FINISH

I finally picked up my browning blr from the gun store yesterday. took it home and cleaned it. while cleaning the barrel, i noticed the cleaning rag was turning brown. didn't really look like rust; there differently was no rust on this gun; the barrel has nice black blue in color. the more i cleaned...
