Right or wrong; I shoot .223 and 5.56 interchangeably in three different ARs, a DPMS, Bushmaster and RRA and two bolts; a Savage 340 and a Savage 110. I have never had a problem.

What a great rifle!!! I think that it is well worth what you paid for it. That old steel tube K4 could bring anywhere from $75-150 depending on condition and how clear and bright it is. At least around here.

I don't have any experience with buying from the CMP but I support your choice to buy an M1. They are fun to shoot! My son has mine, along with my M1 Carbine. Both are fun to shoot but the Garand is one of my (our) favorites.
