Re: 1886 33WCF questions (lots)
Thanks Gunsmith. I checked case head size for 348 and 33 and thought they were the same. I may be mistaken here though. I have often heard the 1886 is weaker than the 71. Since it is the same design is this due to metallurgy? I am not concerned with brass....I'll find some eventually or make it like...

Yeah, it looks like junior might be in danger at first, but actually Dad is slightly behind him, and the gun is angled back even more.

1886 33WCF questions (lots)
What, exactly, is the difference between the regular 33 WCf, the lightweight 33 WCf and the extra Lightweight 33WCF? The takedown 33 WCF...what configuration was that in (LW, XLW, Regular)? How punishing is the recoil in the XLW model? Could the 33 WCF be had in octagon bbl and cresent butt? The rea...

Here is another photo, this one undated. The Dad is shooting a Remington 1912, the boy...is it an old Stevens or Hamilton? The girl is hiding the receiver with her hands. Wow...Dad and the kids out hunting. Check out the clothes the girl hunts/shoots in! And lets not forget to put a tie on the boy w...

Caliber? Year of mfg???? Neat old one. About 2 years ago I passed on a 1912 mfg 1894 in 30 WCF because it was cut down and somewhat beat. They only wanted 175 though. Changed my mind, drove back to the gunshow and it was GONE!

I was wondering too. The cylinder is too long in proportion for it to be a Navy...I was thinking maybe a Colt Dragoon. Of course, it could be one of the knock-offs like a Manhattan or a Cooper. One thing for sure... it isnt a Uberti!!

I have not been able to do that with Dads trapper in 30 WCF. Here are chronographed loads out of the trapper versus what the manuals state for normal barrels. note first number is what the manual states, second is what I measured ie: manual/chrono Sierra 110 gn HP (singly loaded since it is a HP): 2...

I firmly believe todays BP is not the same as the BP they used in the 1800's. I have had guns refuse to function due to fouling after only a few shots with todays BP. There is no way the consumer back then whose life depended upon their gun would put up with that. I am convinced.

Anybody know it or how to figure it out for the Lyman 457122?? It is a HP, but I plugged the mould so it casts as a solid. Does that change the ballsitic coefficient? Does the alloy (ie: weight change) make a difference, or is it just a function of length and diameter??
