Re: Diesel Tractor won't run...

If you can get the tractor into a heated garage or get a gun heater and tent the tractor with a tarp it should help. Change the filters and bleed the lines. Best to get winter mix and add some power services 911 white bottle. The 911 red bottle will help when it starts to gel but sounds like it's pa...

Re: Social use of the .30-30

I think whoever does the guns for Yellowstone might actually be from a farm or ranch. Taylor Sheridan's family owns a ranch so it might be right from his experience. The 30-30 is used pretty heavy as a saddle/ farm truck gun especially 94's to this day. I use one whenever we have to put down sick co...

Old timers thought highly of the 405 gr. factory loads (both jacketed and lead) unless something has changed I think they'd probably work ok. But I think if your worried about a grizzly you might want to look at Garrett Cartridges. They load super hard cast loads and have a great reputation in Alask...

I don't doubt that the colt was Garrett's and that it was at Fort Sumner that night. But the story from the Maxwell ranch hands said Garrett ambushed the kid with a shotgun. Sounds like that might be the true story. The Colt had an interesting life though it and a winchester 73 44 were taken from on...

Re: Cartridge length question, old antique shotgun

Might be worth it to have a gunsmith measure the chamber or get or make a gauge yourself (can be made from an old credit card). The 2 3/4 shell will fit in a 2 5/8 chamber but isn't good for the old gun if the chamber is for the 2 5/8" because the folded crimp blows out and the chamber/forcing ...
