JohndeFresno - Go to the CA State Attorney General Office web site and look up their DOJ pamphlet Gun Laws 2007 that "jazman" referenced. It is a an abreviated synopsis of the CA gun laws but it does give the applicable section of the Civil Code for each subject written about. You keep ref...

The Deer Tag I drew in CA this year is for Zone X-1 and the opening day for that zone is this Saturday 6 Oct 2007. The way I figure it is that I'll get up at 3:00AM Saturday morning, be on the road by 3:30AM, be near my hunting spot (40 miles away) by 4:30AM, hike into my exact hunting spot by 5:45A...

JohndeFresno - I do not have those codes in front of me; however, your being a police officer you probably have a copy of the CA Civil Code and you can look up the law on transfer of firearms or if you do not have the current CA Civil Code, you can get it here. http://www.leginfo.ca.gov/calaw.html J...

If those pictures were taken today, there might be one or two that wouldn't have a house or houses in them. Development of that area has increased heavily over the years. I wouldn't be surprised if that property hasn't been sold to developers and perhaps developed itself. Also as stated, the taxes i...

Great rifle, great hunt, great results. Funny how some believe that the .30-30 is an ineffective round and then a fellow like you comes along and shows just what the .30-30 is capable of. Thanks for sharing.

What "Big City" did 'ya go to, Ed? Redding? Actually, we went up to Klamath Falls, OR. It is growing quite a bit and since it is closer, it makes good sense to go there for a quick trip. They have quite a few of the big name stores now and with a new COSCO and a Barnes & Nobel c...

I use "Lee Sizing Case Lube" in the 2 oz tube. It is slow but has a wax base that will not contiminate powder or primer. They say to put it on with your fingers but I experimented with a new RCBS Pad the last time I reloaded and coated it with the Lee lube and it worked fine and was much f...

Those Remington Pump Action Rifles are hard to beat. I just had my Remington 7600 topped off with a Weaver 4X Classic scope along with my Marlin .444 SS out to the range yesterday for their final sight-ins prior to opening day of Deer Season on 6 October. I've also got a Remington Model 760 made in ...

I'm new to reloading and when working up a load for my .30-30 Winchesters, I used IMR-3031. I started at 27.5 GR and settled on a load of 30 GR. I got the idea of using IMR-3031 from reading Sam Fadala's book "Winchester's .30-30 Model 94, the Rifle America Loves". A great book by-the-way....

If I turn right at the bottom of my driveway, approximately 1-mile down the road is a fence with a cattle guard spanning the road. As soon as you cross the cattle guard you are in the Modoc National Forest and it goes 37-miles North to the OR border and west for about 40-miles. It is huge and most o...

I live just about as far North as you can get in Northeast CA without going over the CA-OR border. Modoc County -- Alturas, CA. I've got a rifle rack in the back window of my truck and right now I have a .30.06 in the rack and a 12 Gauge Remington 870 (it's Dove season). The rifle stays there almost...
