Now I remember why I left England. 363 quid for a 1000 rem 405gr 45-70 bullets :shock:
Prices have climbed a lot here in the past 3 years, to the point that I have switched to cast bullets for the larger calibers. I guess paying 25 cents for a jacketed bullet is not so bad after all.

Try the scope on another rifle if possible. Too tight or binding bands may cause this problem. okdee, I seem to have missed part of your second post. You state the rifling does not extend all the way to the muzzle. If that is the case, then there is your problem. I use the Hornady 168hpbt in my 30-30 94 winchester. Single shot of course. No other bullet I have tried will match its accuracy in this rifle.
