Providence Tool Sights

I'm going to be buying one of the Providence Tool copies of the Lyman 21. I posted in the classifieds to see if anyone might have a one laying around that they aren't going to use. But, if I end up buying a new one, where would you suggest I buy it from. I have found two places on line for about the...

Re: Why didn't the '95 sell better?

I like the 1895 src and the shorter barrel guns but in general, the 1895 is not a very pretty gun to my eye. The 28" barrels are definitely not to my liking and I have carried a few of them. There were quite a few made but, as I recall, about 75% were Russian military rifles. I think the commer...

Re: Will a Winchester 1873 barrel work in a Win 1892 action?

[quote="Malamute"]From what Mike said, it may be relatively easy to adapt it to the 92. Most of the hard work is done, shortening it to the correct length and rechambering it, and perhaps the extractor cut. Unless it would be more practical to sell the 73 barrel and get a 92 barrel, or hav...

Will a Winchester 1873 barrel work in a Win 1892 action?

I've got an old, beat up Winchester 1892 rifle that has a completely shot barrel on it. I have a decent Winchester 1873 barrel that's been laying around here for years. Will the 1873 barrel work on the 1892 action without having to do anything to it?

Thanks for any help

Re: Winchester 71 trivia question

Highly unlikely that gun came with a bolt peep as it has a serial number above 45,000 and the use of that sight ended much earlier. With the popularity of the bolt peep, I would bet someone swapped bolts or, perhaps, had one added to the original bolt.

I think Y K hit it on the head. Use a bleach solution to kill the odor. In areas where the bleach will ruin a carpet or fabric, you have to work up from a low concentration. A 5% bleach & water mix should do at least some good....and may completely fix "light areas"......in saturated s...

I'll put up a Winchester plastic buttplate. It came off an older gun but I'm not sure what model it is intended to fit. It is 4 5/8" long and 1 3/8" wide. The hole spacing is about 3 1/8 center to center. I has the older style Winchester repeating arms logo in the center of it.

The dealer was wrong. I can't believe you bought from his wholesaler. I have tried to buy from wholesalers before and, in my experience, they would not deal with a retail buyer. They required that I have an account to order from them. If this shop is buying from a wholesaler who sells to the public,...

That's a good one. But, why add the Redfield line to their existing, and, to me, seemingly crowded, product line? If hitting a lower price point was the objective, what is the purpose of the Rifleman?

It's good to see Redfield back but I'm a little confused as to what Leupold's strategy is here. In the moderate to low end of their product line, they now have VX-3, VX-2, VX-1, Rifleman, and, now, Redfield. What are they trying to accomplish?
