Re: Anyone cast the Lee 1oz shotgun slug?

Ive been casting my 12ga 1oz slugs with wheel wt metal same as I use for other bullets. I use the 1oz shotcups with a 20ga card wad to get ht under slug inside cup. I have a data sheet from Lee that came with mould .

The ww slugs go through 6x6 at 25 yds and open like 1/2 dollar !

I have two Lee, one is the old autoprime with round trays and other is new style with square trays . I like the older one with round trays better .
I also have the RCBS hand primer . It works good too but is a bit slower for change over to another cartridge.

To me a 7 mag kicks worse than a 338 mag ! The snap of a 7 compared to push of the 338 with 250 grainers ! I shoot '06 and 30-338 mag pretty good and have never considered them heavy recoil. Now my 45-110 with 535 grainers is recoil ! But knowing it is there and being prepared for it is key and is q...

Put a sized , unprimed case in chamber , close block and let hammer down. Now bring block back against hammer where it rides under breech block, start slipping feeler guage between case rim and breech face.Largest feeler is headspace you have .

IMR powders tend to run hotter over the spectum.

You never want to be working up a load with one and switch to the other in mid stream .

Burn rates also differ within same man. in different lots .
