It's been 44 years since my Dad died, on this day in 1981. Next year he'll have been gone as long as he was here on earth. I've outlived him by 15 years so far.
I miss you Dad. I'll be raising a glass to him after this last meeting of the day (at 7:00pm local time).
There is also an issue on the laws actually passed that the ATF enforced. Without these being overturned, the duty to enforce these laws would go to the FBI or DOJ itself. Much larger agencies with many more agents and much larger budgets. Yes, in good hands now (or soon to be), but that never lasts...
Savage has a new lever rimfire also. Once they hit the store I will need to take a closer look at both of them. Local shop has one of the Savage rifles. Price isn't bad and some of the nicest walnut stocks I've seen in a long time but up close, it's a thoroughly unattractive rifle. Really ugly, lik...
Actually, I think it's more about the stupidity of consumers. Back when I was first driving, we all had a small kit with points, a screwdriver and a book of matches. Everyone I knew could change the points in their cars on the side of the road to get their car going again. Today, they have to put a...

Doug,
I always thought Katie Sacket was kinda hot and she cleans up well. Just a different kind of look, but she plays the "tough chick" well.
Many of the old great cartridges aren't found on shelves today. Gun stores seem to only carry a variety of either the most popular ammo, or the latest whiz bang do it all ammo. I don't own a .22 Hornet either, but I do own it's grandpa the .22WCF and I buy Hornet brass to load down to .22WCF specs ...
I have one Hornet, two 218 Bee's and a 25-20. I've shot factory, hand loads, cast and jacketed in all of them. I wish all of the -20 gun owners would start hounding the likes of Marlin, Henry, Browning to start making 218,25-20, 32-20 guns again. That would lead to ammo/brass being made again for u...
And what YK should the federal government require of folks who suffer from hurricanes, tornados, floods, etc. before aid is given to the other 49 states and various territories? Should the states that suffered sever damage during Helene have it mandated that their elected officials resign before ai...
Favorite Things — Memories and Traditions By Mike Rhinehart · January 14, 2025 https://patriotpost.us/articles/113497-favorite-things-memories-and-traditions-2025-01-14 It’s no secret to anyone who has read one or two of my columns that dogs have been a central part of my life. This is not a newfou...
Grizz, you are absolutely correct. The company I work for makes products that go into buildings, and many go into products that would greatly reduce the fire hazard. I definitely think that science should be incorporated in a comprehensive plan, but don't want to appear self-serving - and the other ...
Now, first I have to say, I follow James Madison's interpretation of the Constitution. “I cannot undertake to lay my finger on that article of the Constitution which granted a right to Congress of expending, on objects of benevolence, the money of their constituents.” ― James Madison The reality of ...
I'm just saying it is much harder to work on them. Even replacing headlights can be darn near impossible given the amount of stuff you have to remove just to get at them!
... is that "stupid" no longer hurts enough. Back in the day, stupid hurt. And the more stupid one's decision, the more it hurt. Thus, stupid decisions became a lesson, and all but the most stupid would learn. Now, modern society has insulated people from their own stupidity. So they just ...

I have watched quite a few of those old B/W John Wayne movies, can't say enjoyed the ones where John Wayne sings though...
First off, I pray for everyone impacted by the wild fires in CA. Everyone - even those I detest. No one should have this happen. I especially pray for the conservative people of the state who continue to vote for competent leadership only to be overwhelmed by leftists and liberals voting for incompe...
Does anyone else have "strange" or "inconsistent" hearing? I can't hear squat in a crowded room. Just a din of noise. Mrs. YK has started to complain that I can't hear. But put me in the woods - I can hear a twig snap, the pitter patter of small game, and a lot of other things. J...
Well, the Founding Fathers here were certainly learned men, and took inspiration from the Magna Carta and other documents, with a good dose of historical analysis to see what actually worked. That is why the word "democracy" appears no where in our Constitution or Declaration of Independen...
John, under Biden, the USA was trying to go down the same path. Fortunately with the election of Trump we may halt that for a bit, but I fear that anything Trump does well will simply be undone by the next leftist Democrat (but I repeat myself) to be elected.
