FNX-45, 15 rounds of .45 per mag and two spare mags.
When I'm letting those mag springs rest I swap to an Astra A-100, 13 rounds of .40 S&W and two spare mags.

jdad's link also showed a hobo spider trap. Watch out for hobos! I got bit on one toe last year and it was months before my leg got better. Small sores popped up on it all the way to my knee, itched something awful, I still have the varicose veins it caused and no treatment or anti venom available. ...

Finally one I can answer. It still has the front sight for the black powder cartridges available at the time.
You need a higher front. Had to do that on my '92 built in 1894.
There are charts on the net to help with calculating the change in height.

Re: Two Cylinder John Deere Tractors of the Levergunners

I learned to drive on a B in upstate NY. In '63 or '64 I signed on with a farmer for the summer, room and board plus $75 and a heifer calf. I think I was 14. The tractor had wheel brakes somewhere between poor and non-existent. Lost it down a hill one day with an empty hay trailer. Only the clutch b...

Good for you, you'll love it. Had mine since I bought it used in '82. I changed the springs to Bullseye, la...

Re: What to do with a new "old" gun as far as maintenance?

Definitely take it apart and clean the internals. My 25-20 is the same year and I found dried oil, carbon from BP loads and a broken piece of the plastic tip of a cleaning rod inside. The other concern is the barrel. If it's the original BP barrel you have a very valuable gun. It also may not take s...

Thanks. The Davidson's brush gun is actually what I am interested in though I haven't made a final decision. It gets very wet where I live and I like the idea of having to worry less about rust. I am fairly handy and should have no trouble polishing the parts if I do go this route. To be honest, I ...

I like the Mossy 464 I just bought, but, unless you're handy, avoid the marine coat. Mine's the Davidsons brush gun. It's a coating containing powdered metal, acts like a fine sandpaper and is all over the internals. When I got it it wouldn't feed from the mag because the tab on the lever floor plat...

My Guide Gun also bruised my finger so I went with the DRC over size lever, it's not as big as the others I've seen and gives room to pad the front if needed. I still use a long handled hoe for a walking staff. I glue a threaded insert into the handle end and install a Hilti fastener for steel to give it a grip on rock. Then I sharpen the blade and cover it for safety. I've only had to use it once but it turned that snake into bite size pieces real quick.
