Re: When plastic/rubber gets 'sticky' - restoring it...?
Hi I had a Limbsaver on a rifle that was stored for years outside of a safe. When I picked it up to clean the rifle, the recoil pad had "melted" and stuck to the floor. I researched it and found that their explaination was the the formula that was used to manufacture it was flawed. It had ...

Re: LED Lights for Off-Road or Winding Country Roads
I replaced my headlight bulbs with the Sylvania Silver Star Ultra bulbs. They improved over what I had. I still need more light on the road in deer country. I have a 1997 Dodge Ram 4x4 and I'm unable to find LED fog light housings that fit my bumper. The few options that I find are reviewed as being...

Re: LED Lights for Off-Road or Winding Country Roads
Certainly handy for seeing off road, and on rural roads with little traffic. But, around here the duck-tards leave them on all the time. They should be wired into the High Beam circuit. The Sylvania SilverStar Ultra bulbs are a great replacement for the quartz-halogen bulbs if your rig didn't come ...

Re: Outdoorsey people, Ticks, & Lyme Disease...
Hi all, I just finished a 2 week regiment of doxycycline , twice per day, for a diagnosis of Rocky Mountain Spotted Fever. I got it from a Lone Star Tick (didn't know they passed RMSF). I tested negative for Lyme. I still have a daily headache but the fatigue has passed. QUESTION: How long do sympto...

Marlin 57 extractor tension ?
Im attempting to resolve a feeding issue with a Marlin 57 22lr. The bolt is not engaging the rim of the cartridge as its lifted out of the magazine and pushed up by the cartridge lifter. The right and left extractors have very different spring pressure. The one on the ejection port side is very stif...

Re: 1917
I have been irritated with movies in the past that made technical mistakes regarding details. I wonder , what is the duty/extent to which a film maker adheres the "facts". Probably a marketing decision about their intended audience. There will be more casual viewers that buy tickets vs tec...

I guess i just enjoyed it from an entertainment stand point.
Most movies get souped up , even those based on true stories, so given my lack of knowledge about all the details
I guess i accepted too much poetic license.

I didn't notice the anti tank guns. I stopped out for pop corn.
What scene were they in. I missed the lead guy crossing the river on the blown bridge.

Yeah, I hope to see more productions from the ww1 epic .
It seems to be a period that has not been as well represented as WW2 in cinema. I don't know enough about the weaponry of that time to notice the discrepancy.

Re: Marlin 57 22lr wont cycle and chamber rounds reliably.
Thx for the help. I've located a disassembly pictorial guide for the 57. For the through cleaning should i use a "gun stripper" type agent to remove old oil build up ? Before reassembly should the parts be coated to prevent rust with anything such as Renaissance wax? GunnyMack, since disco...

The yellow magazine follower is crooked a bit.
The cartridge lifter doesn't push the rim of the shell high enough to line up for chambering .i oiled the internals best i could without disassembling .
I am guessing some springs may be weak but Numerige is out of stock.
Advise ?

4T5, I've shot lots of them over the past 50 years...in fact, the very first rifle I ever shot was a carbine that my dad bought for $20 in 1960 when I was 6 years old. My experience with all of the carbines, military and aftermarket ones, including full auto M-2's, is that they are reliable. Someti...

Wind, I haven't fired my 93 yet. As I am concerned with the metallurgy of the old gun and since your figures are at the top end, how many grains of Unique and/or 2400 would approximate a "factory" load? Also, whats the absolute lowest amount of Unique to avoid the dreaded "detonation&...
