Re: Recoil as I age

For all my big bore rifles (and my shotguns), I've always taken great pride in having used a sissy pad for 25+ years. Being pain averse, a Beartooth recoil pad has always done the job. For example: ----- one range day a few years ago: 100 rds of .30-06 bolt action and 100 rds of .444 Marlin levergun...

Re: What if- 55.6 in .223?

I'm absolutely no expert on the topic, so my comment is "memory related." I recall reading years ago that the danger of using 5.56 in a .223 firearm is Overpressure. My "memory" recalls that 5.56 operates at a higher pressure, and therefore if used in a .223 chamber, there is the...

OK, I'm now feeling much better and safer about using these FTX bullets. earlmck provides the insight: a low-pressure load is OK using normal length cases. I am just a plinker and have zero interest in "high performance/full throttle." ------- I now plan to use normal-length cases and load...

I drive over to the local indoor pistol range.

I put a target at 10 yards.
I load 8 10-rd magazines for my Ruger 22/45 pistol.
Boom times 80.
Repeat.

For variation:
I put a target at 20 yards.
I load 18 into the tube feed of a Glenfield Model 60 semi-auto rifle.
Boom times 18.
Repeat.
