Re: Pawpaws and a 44-40
Some photos from yesterday afternoon's follow-up hunt, probably the last of the year. It seems I've missed the pawpaw harvest for the year, beaten by excessive work hours and 'coons and 'possums that do this for a living: http://i433.photobucket.com/albums/qq51/ghostdncr/Pawpaw/10_21%20Hunt/10_21Hun...

Re: Winchester 71 Receiver Sights
Thanks for all the responses, guys. Lots of great insight, here. While the micrometer adjustment feature seen on some of these sights, a visit to the ballistics tables leaves me wondering if it's something I need. As I read it, a standard .348 load with a 200 grain bullet that's zeroed to hit point ...

Winchester 71 Receiver Sights
Receiver sights in general are not a subject I've dedicated a lot of study to, but had had several rifles equipped with them. Namely, a mid-50's Model 70 and an early post-64 model 94, but I've never fallen into the collector/researcher mode. Anyway, now I find myself looking for one of these sights...

Re: .348 Brass is Available
I told the fellow that winchester ammunition no longer listed the loaded ammo or component casings, he put me on hold and when he returned he told that Winchester ammo was going to continue making both items. Only time will tell if he was telling me the truth or not. Sounds legit based on what I've...

Re: .348 Brass is Available
I just ordered 250 pieces with no backorder alert. Kinda hard to believe this stuff is available again at such a reasonable price. They apparently had the Hornady 200 grain FP bullets in stock for $34/100 too, but after my order for 4 boxes was processed they're now listed as out of stock. Where? A...

Re: Pawpaws and a 44-40
Thanks for the warm welcome, guys! Glad to hear the photos were appreciated. I have a couple of other spots to check out that may have fruit, but this grove has always been a sure thing in the past. I live in the Louisville area but was raised down in the middle part of the state, and the other tree...

Pawpaws and a 44-40
I had a mostly free afternoon this past Sunday, so decided to hit the woods in search of pawpaws. For those not familiar, the pawpaw is a rather large, indigenous fruit of the eastern US. It looks kinda like a top heavy pear and tastes somewhat like a banana, and I know where there's an entire grove...
