There is nothing wrong with getting a Ruger 10/22 as a first rifle. Good for him to choose what he wants, and purchase it himself. today my son [19] bought his first rifle. :D
now, until now i've provided the shooting implements.
this one he researched, took himself off to the store,
and paid with his own cash. :wink:

so it's just a ruger 10-22, but it's the principle of the thing.

Make sure it's tight, but don't strip it, the threads are super fine. Open the action, with a finger from the inside push the spring ...

you did fine. changing/resetting dies is the drawback of a single press. get a bunch of the quick changers. the lee equipment ,to quote his book is only 3 or 4 times stronger than you need, while some are 10 or more times. thus the price difference. for what it's worth i've never seen a broken press...
