It sound like you've found your gun. The AYA:s are quite fine, and seemingly your one obeys you. The case hardening colours are beautiful! BTW, there are two species of crows in Europe. We have two-coloured grey and black in Scandinavia, but in other parts of the continent they are entirely black, a...

A couple of thoughts on the issue at hand. 1) Preachers are nothing more or less than human beings. They have no special connection to God. Hopefully they have the education and integrity to be a good student of scripture and thereby preach Good News and not good views. But, every person sitting in...

The mod 88 doesn't have the inferior or simpler qualitity that is sometimes connected with post-64 Winchester. Metal work is still excellent on my own m 88 from 1969, and and it can compete with my my pre-war Sauer shotgun or my previous Mannlicher-Schoenauer in finish. Stock design may admittedly b...

Get an old Husky 9,3x57 Mauser, and you vill have comparable prestanda. The old Potato-caster do the same job as the .375W with not too much job and alterations. Norma makes brass and bullets for it - a 286 grs RN at 2150 fps hit like a freight train. It is still a popular cartridge for moose and be...

Question about Win mod 94
I would be grateful for your comments on the following. Yesterday I discovered, that the barrel of my Win 94BB was a bit loose, although the front sight was perfectly vertical. I dismounted the magazine and the forearm, and than I could unscrew the barrel by hand. Having done that, I degreased the t...

---The difference between 1611 and 2008 English aside, the KJV is really an excellent translation of some very poor manuscripts. The old Greek texts we have today are far older than those used to translate the KJV, having been discovered since 1611. The vast majority of old text we have now were no...

Most of the OT is really fine literature, but it is easy to get stuck in the Numeri or the Deuteronomy with all rules and counting. The Chronicles and the Books of Kings have a lot of good stories, worth reading and meditating. And there is a lot more, which is nice stuff to go back to and read agai...

Re: 375 Win, 255 Barnes favorite load
I load that bullet with 34 grs of Norma 200 for my Win 94 BB. It goes out with some 2000 - 2050 fps and groups about 2 inch at 100 yards. I have not managed to shoot any game with it yet, so I can't tell anything about the effect on game.

OT - Rolling Block - another link added
Husqvarna Vapenfabrik built a lot of guns on the Remington Rolling Block. The Swedish army made the RB to its standard rifle in 1867, and Husqvarna built thousands for the army. However, even many hunting gun - rifles and shotguns - were made with the system too. Modern Swedish metal industry was fo...

Re: Mauser ammo
My son got some different ammo with his Mauser 8mm. It's stamped as a 24/47. The bullets are 9mm Mauser, which must be correct, and 22-73 whose casings mike out the same, but the bullets are longer. Are both OK to shoot? 8 mm = .323" - as said by others. 9 mm = .358" (Or did you mistype 9...

Didn't Karamojo Bell use a ridiculousely small caliber for most of his elephant hunting? A 7 by something as I recall. Quinn So he did. He began with a .303Brit, but had the scottish gunsmith Fraser to trim a .256 Mannlicher to 5 lbs, with which he killed a lot of elephants. Soon he changed from th...
