24" Marlin Cowboy in .44 for deer around my house, no shots over 150 yards. 260gr cast at about 1760fps.
444 Marlin and a 275gr cast at about 2200fps for elk.
And I'm sure a .30-30, 25-35, 45-70, .348 and .35 Whelen will also get one single chance apiece!

I wasn't allowed a toy gun. My father told me he would never have me pointing anything resembling a gun at anything I didn't want dead. He was a Korean veteran of some horrific battles. I carry the smaller knife in the open, sometimes, and no one has ever even seemed to notice, in my usual circles, or at least it doesn't seem to raise any eyebrows. The handle is small but secure in it's grip, and gives the illusion of a much smaller knife, until drawn. It's a Puma. I have this sam...

My most fired firearms are .44's and almost always two at a time! Plus when I hunt around home here, its fairly brushy and I'm awful comfortable hunting with .44's. So when I head out the door and into the brush around the house here, a long shot would be 125 yards, I have two .44's with me. It been...

I'm pretty pleased with the one I picked up about 5 years ago. I hunt under the heavy dark timber, therefore the 4X Leupold. Well, I live 100' from the woods where I spend many days walking all day with a Marlin Cowboy in .44 mag with a 24" barrel. Really balances nicely, especially if you load the tube all the way. The extra weight is offset by the way it balances it, making it seem much lighter at the end of the da...

As a true blue A#1 .44 fan, I see no problem with leaving it as a .44 for a few different reasons. One, the rifle is very light.
