Re: Ruger 77 338 Win Mag
I have a top tang made in 1990.I bought it at the local gun shop.A man bought it to go to Africa. He sighted it in and never got to go .It sat in the safe until he traded it last year.I shot it with my handloaded 200gr. bullets .The first load I tried shot just over 1/2 inch at 100yds.

I have some of the Buffalo Arms bullets but haven't got to shoot them yet.Woodleigh makes a 200gr. bonded flat nose designed for the 33 Winchester.I've tried getting some but Woodleigh says they are having trouble getting the US distributors to handle them.I haven't looked lately to see if anyone is...

I have a gun rebored from 30/30 to 38/55.The work was done by JES.The bore is excellent. It shoots about a 1" group at 100 yds. with my cast bullets.I have heard many stories of work done by JES and have heard nothing but praise.

When I heard that Barnes was discontinuing the 348 X bullet I called Barnes and bought ten boxes. At the time they had only 100 boxes left.I wish I could have bought more.

I have shot 34.0 grs. of Varget with good accuracy. That is a little fast for cast bullets depending on the alloy. My favorite powder for the 32 is H-4895.You can reduce it or go for high end loads with it.

If you load and cast the 38/55 is a great gun.I have one in a Marlin rebored from a 30/30 and boy does it shoot!I haven't yet taken any game with it though.

Re: OT- 300 Sav Range Report and Bullet Performance
Your accuracy is good but if you find the bullets don't work well on hogs I would go to the good old Remington Corelokt or even the Nosler round nose Partition. The Nosler is also designed for the 30/30.

I have shot an RCBS cast bullet from my gun using 34.0grs.of Varget and it shot quite well.It was cast from Lyman #2 and sized at .323.With jacketed bullets H-4895 is my favorite.

I just say a post on another forum from a guy that talked to the people at Woodleigh. They said they would do a run of 338 flatnose bullets for the 338 Marlin Express with no setup fees if they purchased 5000 or more bullets.

I have done this with .35 Remington Corelokt bullets.I used two Lee sizing dies that I ordered in .351 and .358.They seemed to shoot fine although I never got to use them on game.As far as I know Hornady still makes bullets for the 348.That would be the easiest route. There is also Hawk,Woodleigh, Ba...

Re: .33 WCF / .338 Reloading Question.
Hornady on their site gives reloading info for the LE bullets in several cartridges. In all cases they suggest trimming the case about .010 shorter than specs to help with O.A.L. and feeding issues. There is also data for the 356 win. I would think if you can get it to feed properly it should be an ex...

My best jacketed 32 load is also 34.0-34.5grs of H-4895.It gives good velocity and great accuracy. It can also be reduced I you need to .

If you are using factory loads it is hard to beat Remington with 170gr. Corelokt bullets. If you are loading for your 32 Corelokts are not available.Hornady makes a good 170gr. flatnose.

The 45 Colt in the 94 Marlin has a 1 in 16" twist an I am told it will shoot a bullet well over 300grs. Glenn Fryxell has written some articles on the subject.

I bought a 7600 35 Whelen a few years ago. With a 250gr. Nosler and some IMR- 4064 it will shoot under one inch at 100yds.Most bolts won't do that .For a woods rifle it is hard to beat.
