I use small rifle primer in my 32-20 and 357 Max , just remember the cups are heavy to hold the higher PSI of rifles and don't show high PSI sign in a pistol till it is way over normal PSI reading if you are reading primers pressures ...

I prefer bottle neck cartridge in lever guns [ 32-20 , 38-40 , 44-40 and 30-30 ] they feed 100% and are not fincky like straight wall case .

Now if my dog would come over everyday and runs your cattle , I could see taking some action , but shooting him because he a dog on your land and chasing a cow or steer . I don't think a 100 lbs Pitbull is a good match for a 700 plus lbs steer . I would gladly pay 3X times the lost or damage to you...

I own both guns , the marlin in 32-20 and the rossi in 44-40 . I shot my rossi in SASS/CAS matches for 15 yrs and it has never failed me . My marlin has tons of work and money in it and won't hold a candle to my rossi in anyway shape or form .

Damascus barreled gun should NEVER , I said NEVER be shot with anything . The Damascus barrel a very very unsafe to shoot due to rust and age . You are rolling the dice when you shoot one . Why I use Unique is it can loaded any gun I have ever owned with cast or jacket bullets . I have use it in pistol from 380 to 45LC and in a rifle like 30 carb to 50-70 . Ruger don't chamber the 22 cylinder , they DRILL them straight threw , there is NO STEP in cylinder . If it was chamber a 22 would stop like the one in pic of my Cimarron . Get brass cases and the nickel don't seal well . I have reloaded my 44-40 over 80 times without one case failure in 15 years . I use the Remington brass and NEVER annealed them . I've never used 777 so I would try real BP or something else to see if problem goes away .

Take your bullet mold to a machine shop and have them chuck it up in 4 jaw chuck and dial it in a lathe and cut only the last band .
