I love mine. I don`t shoot many full power loads but for hunting they do not bother me at all. I do shoot lots of low powered cast loads and the Cowboy is a very accurate and fun rifle. Enjoy! :wink:

I had a .31 cal navy years ago. I found it while cleaning out a basement in an old house. Also a Stevens #44 .22 rifle. The lady said keep em!! Anyway the one I had was for the very early caseless ammo leverdude spoke of and the breech bolt had no extractor,just a lump sticking out to fire the paper...

You can get by with a hot plate but you will soon want a real lead furnace. Why not just get it now and the $20 you save will be almost half the price of a Lee 10# pot. I cast with a Lyman 20# furnace that is almost 20 years old and the thermostat failed once. I sent it back to Lyman and they replac...

I hunted with my dad and uncles ata young age. This is a pic of my dad in 1955, I was 9 and loved to go with him. My single shot .22 was not a good Fox gun but I carried it anyway. :lol:

I think the Talley rings for Weaver bases are the best looking and prefer a low power scope like the1 1/2 X 4 x32MM Leupold if one wants a scope on a lever. :wink:

Just about any of the factory loads will get your deer for you.
150 or 170gr. your choice. Just get enough to sight in and have enough left over to hunt with.

BTW , I am in on that .30 cal mold group buy also. Ranch Dogs e-mail said Mar.1 you are probably right on for delivery date. :wink:

Send it to Marlin, they will D&T it and replace the front for you and have it back to you in short order. I have 4 Marlin 1894 cowboys and have installed Williams FP on all of them. One (my .357) has the side mounted FP , the others have the top mounted FP sight and the .500 front works great on...

Marlin service dept. has good people and have done me right in the past and they are quick.
I have a Rossi .45 Colt short rifle that you can see a shadow in the bore under the sight dovetails. Don`t seem to affect accuracy and I cant feel them with a cleaning rod with tight patch. :wink:

Big Bear, The 71 has a thicker receiver so the windage bar may be to short to get all the right windage you may need.
I have a Williams FP made for the 71 and its windage bar is longer than one on a FP 94/36.
you should be able to hold it up to the rifle and tell if it will work. :wink:

there would be no problem if the rifle/pistol was canted at the same angle for every shot. It is the change in the amount of cant that causes your groups to open up. :)
