Congrats, the first is the hardest. You can do very good work by hand (with care). Try drilling for a tang screw on a muzzleloading rifle. The drill has to go through the exact center of the tang,through the stock and come out exactly centered through the trigger plate or the tang bolt wont fit prop...

My boss just handed me a Christmas bonus check for $1,000 ! :shock: Wow!!! I have 6-7 rifles that won`t fit in the safe and the old safe is soooo stuffed I have to unload half of it to get one out without banging them up. NO!! Dont swap bolts or locking bolts, They are fitted to the rifle and a switch could cause dangerous headspace problems. A smith with a headspace gauge can do it safely. :wink:

I must admit ,I did not slug the barrel of the rifle in the photo and don`t usually in any of my guns. I shoot bullets about .002 over the jacketed bullet size for that caliber and they do just fine. If I can`t get one to shoot as well as I expect then I will take a chamber and muzzle cast with Cero...

The Lyman 311041 GC bullet (cast by several folks) is a very good one.
Loaded over 18gr.IMR 4198 is a very accurete load at 1590fps. Recoil is almost nonexistant. Enjoy! :wink:

Both of my Marbles tang sights use a longer tang bolt in the rear hole and a #10 screw in the front with IIRC 32 tpi threads. You should be covered. :wink:

Yes plated shot is almost as soft as the hardest lead shot and won`t damage any gun barrel. Loaded in a shot cup wad it don`t even touch the barrel.
What kind of shotgun do you have?
Plated shot is a little harder so it won`t deform as much on firing and will give better paterns. :wink:

Like Rusty said they return the origional parts with the gun. The factory also checks it over for any other problems that may need addressed as in worn parts etc. I would send it to Ruger. They are the experts IMHO. :wink:
