Great heirloom rifle and story ! I only see one little hitch in this whole thing - you're going to have to shoot a 65 year old deer to keep everything consistent. :D http://www.northamericanwhitetail.com/files/2010/09/tr_aa1103goliath2.jpg ( "Goliath" shown here is a farm-raised deer )

Re: The latest signs of an ammo shortage...

I'm worried/wondering if after the hoarding trend, there will be a kickback DROP in demand where people are selling off all the stuff they're so panicky about buying now. That would leave the whole industry on slim sales for a year or so, and even well funded companies have a hard time with that. It...

.30-30 reloading - seeking plastic ammo storage boxes

I am about to start reloading for .30-30. I've previously done a few batches of 9mm with a friend to learn. I'm sure I'll be performing case prep & priming in batches - so I want to find plastic storage for cases in various phases of completion. The problem is, nothing seems to fit .30-30 proper...

After a good soak and scrub with Hoppes #9, a significant amount of cloudy black silt was removed from the cylinders (it was clean when it was last put up !). Re: Iran's stealth fighter a fake according to the Aussies!

There are no gap seals around the canopy. Sub-zero temperatures are the minimum problem, but air getting under a canopy at speed rips it off - in real aircraft this triggers an alternate ejection seat firing circuit. The canopy itself is badly rippled, like cheap greenhouse plastic. Casting large cl...

I guess oxidization from galvanic action or slowly from atmosphere makes sense here. I had normally used copper-washed and hadn't seen this sort of thing before.

I think the proper term for this is 'stiction.' Anyway, I am curious about a symptom I have only experienced recently. My 82 year old mother keeps my (inherited) old H&R 922 revolver as a nightstand gun. For all its weaknesses, it's simple, and she is completely confident in her ability to use i...

I am NOT skilled in casting, but I know enough to tell you that harder lead alloys start by adding 4% to 6% of the metal Antimony. The most extreme hardnesses use up tp 30% Antimony.
