Mid 1950's a new Winchester Model 52 with sights, etc, was about 110.00 or so .

That was a months wages for working stiffs.

Safeway store had a complete department full of ammo, fishing gear, powder, bullets etc.

It aint just ammo. Here in Yuma, the city requires you to get carded if buying spray paint. I'm 77 and got carded a couple of years ago. Clerk was about my age and we both had a good laugh over it.

I still have my AF flight line ear plugs, the ones in the little bottle ya hung on your belt loop, no wonder my ears ring. Simply go to your eye doctor and get a set of prescription safety glasses. Tell him what you need and he'll get 'em for you. I got a pair of electronic ear muffs to try and got rid of them after one range session, my ears were ringing badly , took 3 or 4 days to go away. I just use regular ear muffs...

I have never given away or sold any of my own loads or allowed anyone to fire one of them in HIS gun.

I don't know, but I would assume they are packaged specifically for the customer, ready to feed into the loading machines. If you are buying primers by the million, you can likely get them packaged however you want. :D
