I think the .22 mag can shine with a barrel of some length, but it needs some velocity to actually magnum.

Either Paco or Jim (can't recall which) relate a good story about using a .22 mag in an 8 3/8" Smith for critter control to excellent effect. It was Paco, I think.

My favorite cat sneeze load for the .30-30 is a Lyman 3118 (311008) over 5.0 grains of Red Dot. Very quiet with the silencer and great for small game.

I've fired two 100 yard 10 shot groups with the same bullet, same lube, same gas check, same powder charge and same rifle. Same day. The only difference was one set was "perfect" ones, the other wrinkled and damaged. You can't tell the two groups apart.

I load the 452424 at 255 grains in my .45 autos. Runs about 800 feet and very accurate. Great design!
