I like seeing how the real folks looked. I also find it interesting where his rifle is as most guides today tell you that is the wrong place and wrong way to carry a rifle. I dare say that Office Hickman knew very well how to carry that rifle as his life most likely could depend on it working.

If you want to really see a company that hasn't made a lever before look at Ithaca shotgun company they make a good shotgun and could most likely make a good lever and have them make a 86, 71 and 92 in the original calibers and today's calibers.

Winchester makes special runs of the model 94 and the model 92 but they will never be a cataloged rifle again.
Mossberg is making a 464 that looks like the model 94 and they are working on doing some different things with it.

I was in for only seven years and when I walked away was up for E8!! Some of us I guess are just seen as being more military types so they gave us rank and responsibilities hoping we would stay. I don't think you could do that now as times have changed.

Nate won't touch the old model 92 actions as he fears they are weak. Funny because my last gunsmith said that the action he had me get was plenty strong enough for the 256 win mag.
