Re: Adjusting Front Sights

Do what I do, get yourself a section of brass brazing rod, mark the barrel with a lead pencil and tap until you're sighted in. Before I got the brass brazing rod I used to use the rim of a 30/30 DUMMY cartridge to drift the sight. Hope that helps. YMMV

No worries, samsi, but the Speer JFN is actually 46gr. What I did with the boxes of that stuff that I picked is 25gr of H335 in .223 cases that cycles my ARs pretty good, and stuffing in Win 22 mag dyna points that I pulled the bullets on and replaced with the 46gr JFNs since the original bullets we...

Not sure if you'll use it, but that same manual lists 25gr 2400 with the Sierra 150gr spitzer in .308W at 2,215. Might go good with 30/30 bullets instead of the spitzer. Might just try that load myself. Some 30 years ago I worked up a load of 26gr of SR 4759 with 30/30 150gr bullets that was ...

1992 Hercules manual lists 14.9gr 2400 with Speer 45gr Spitzer at 3,030fps. I don't want to go anywhere near that with the 45gr XTP type hollow point. Maybe 1500 to 2000 fps. It also lists 14gr 2400 with the 55gr FMJ at 2,685fps. Might try 12gr 2400 with the 45 grainer though. What's your thought on...
