Marlin xlr worth?

Thinking of parting with my Marlin (not Remlin) XLR 45-70. Has about 1 box of ammo (WW 300gr HP went into 1.5" with open sights @100yds) thru it and I do have the box. Just wondering what it is worth nowadays?

Plinking with either my nylon 66 or my Marlin 39a. Enjoy shooting at our 300yd gongs with open sights, with the Marlin. Should scope it as my 67 yr old eyes aren't near as good as they used to be.

Arsenal molds makes a 205 rnfp you could send to Erik and have him hollow point it for you. They also have a 200gr swc keith type mould, if you are loading for pistols, and it might feed in a rifle. It does mine somewhat.

I have both and the 205gr shoots real well in my '92.

How about a 45 auto, either a semi or revolver, loaded with the CCI 45 acp shotshells? Could have the first 3 shots the shotshells and the remainder is regular HP's. I would suggest something like a "Judge" but recoil might be too much.

IIRC, that Jesse has to have at least .050" per side, at the muzzle, above groove dia. for a re-bore. So you need at least .475" or so, of muzzle diameter. I am sure he prefers more than that, but IIRC, that was the minimum. I would want at least .100" per side myself as at .050 and t...

Just like JimT, a friend of mine uses the Speer 130gr hot core bullet in his Savage 24 O/U 30-30/12ga. It will print three shots with bullet holes touching @75 yds. He seldom shoots over 100yds. 7 years/7 shots/ 7 dead deer. He used to use WW 150gr silvetips. The 130's chrono close to 2700fps IIRC
