Yeah, I checked Numrich, but they only list one band--no differentiation between old and new, no matter which 336 variant you look at. Plus, they're sold out.

I have a waffle top Marlin 336, I believe the date of manufacture is 1952. It has the large style forend. Does anyone know if the rear barrel band and screw are the same as current production?

cshold, Sighted in dead on at 50, there probably won't be enough difference at any range less than 50 to matter. Thank you for the suggestions and info. I've found a few places that aren't too expensive for two days in the early muzzleloader season, so I'll start calling around. Everything I've read agrees with you, that later in the year is better, but mid-October is when I'll be up there.

Thanks for the info. That was what I thought, but didn't have anything to compare it to. I'll take it down in the near future and see if something is causing the mag tube to not quite seat into the receiver all the way, or if there's some other issue.
