That's a very good point, Bill...…….something I'd forgotten. I inspected one of the few I've got left, & sure enough, as you point out the base is slightly concave, which the gas acts on to help the bullet grab the rifling & sealing it to give it a little "kick in the butt" aiding ...

I remember 45stomp's posts about shooting moose with his Noroku '92 in .45 Colt. I think his loads used a 325GR projectile but I don't remember if he said how fast they were. I personally don't think 1300fps is fast enough for a 300GR load, cause you can't predict the angle of the shot. jd45

Paco has talked about the fact that the Rossi 1892s are chambered in the .454 Casull cartridge, which ought to be a gigantic clue as to how strong they are, compared to Win. or Marlin '94s. jd45

In the pic, the angle of the grip frame in relation to the barrel sorta reminds me of the DA Adams revolvers Custer was reputed to have carried on the LBH. Very easily pointable. .45 Colt, huh? That's right up my alley! jd45

Thanx for your answers guys. I saw a non-working stg44 in a youtube video, costing around $60. The airsoft gun is very impressive. I think the drawback to our guy grabbing such a rare, at that time, German weapon, is nervousness about getting his hands on more ammo for it. jd45
