The Big Guns of the Iowa class battle-wagons were directed by analog (crank & lever) computers, and had to be fired while the ship was underway.. Troops on the ground often called for 15-meter fire correction, to be delivered as far as 23 miles from the ship. They got it, often as not...

Years earlier, I shot a couple deer for camp meat with a .25 WCF, but did just as well with a .22 WMR.. .22 LR will also put down deer, if you can place y...

My choice for "deep" concealed carry is a Browning Mini-1911, in .380.
It holds 8+1, weighs 14-oz empty, and it goes Bang, every time I tell it to, and digests every sort of .380 ammo I've fed it..

H-110/W-296 have no "unpleasant surprises", at pressures from 30,000 to 65,000 psi (.454 Casual range..) Li'l Gun behaves pretty much the same, and is better for heavier (180+) bullets in the .357.
Neither powder works efficiently with light-weight bullets, giving the "flash-bang" effect..

You may have to relieve the top of the hammer and/or the flat underneath the firing pin extension..
Just enough to prevent binding, then polish both surfaces..
A little lithium grease on those surfaces, and vigorous cycling of the action should take care of it..

A heavy-loaded .44 mag., .45 Colt, or .454 can serve admirably in both short and long guns, and are only "underpowered" in someone's imagination..
Throw in S&W's .460 or .500, and the field becomes ever more level..

Try stoking your .44s with H-110 or W-296 (same powder/different label)..

I had a Remington Model 10 whose stock cracked, so made a similar style pistol-grip for it, and sawed it to 18.5" - it was nasty to fire 'from the hip' with one hand on the frond and the other on the pistol grip, but was NICE to fire with both hands on the pistol grip, like a large, front-heavy rev...

Both movies were made from the same script, with minor differences here and there..

Why..?
Mostly as a jab at Winchester, I think, whose original designation for the .44-40 was ".44 W.C.F.".
Colt did not wish to advertise explicitly for their rival, but still wanted to hint at the connection, which was interchangeability of ammunition..
