More prayers, directed at specific areas of the spine -- and for his surgical team, and for his family.
Funny how, under these circumstances, shooting and gun stuff matters so little and Jim matters a lot. I think he is teaching another lesson, God bless that man.

I miss Alamogordo, but confess it is a couple of degrees cooler here on the Continental Divide. Folks make fun of the “dry heat” out here in the desert, but I will happily take 100 F and 7 percent humidity while the rest of you are dripping wet at 80 with 80 percent. No thank you!

If you want to know how practical a .303 double is in Africa, find a copy of Edouard Foa's "After Big Game in Central Africa," published in 1899. It's a fabulous read about this Frenchman's epic explorations and hunts, and while he had larger bore rifles for the dangerous stuff, it is rema...

Re: Favorite barrel length for a hunting sixgun?

I've actually hunted four seasons with a handgun that I can recall -- one of those seasons for black bear. My first year was back about 1980 or 81 with a Blackhawk, .41 Magnum, 4 5/8 barrel, with some sort of Speer bullet over Blue Dot, which developed a bad reputation in .41 Magnum about then. I br...

Favorite barrel length for a hunting sixgun?

Just wondering what the sixgunners here prefer to pack when specifically handgun hunting for antelope, deer, hogs, "bars" and mebbe elk. I go back and forth between the packability of the 5 1/2 and the sight radius (I can use all the help I can get) of the 7 1/2. Love to hear your thoughts...

Jay, I read that Leo McCarey took a day and a half to shoot this scene because every time Laughton started the Gettysburg Address, he could not keep from crying, moved by those tremendous words.
