Re: OT- Mexican Revolution Firing squad!

Very interesting thread. Special tip of the hat to Charles.
Regarding dying well before a firing squad, there is a clip somewhere of Castro's commies executing prisoners in Cuba, and there is a big fellow in white who gives a grand wave to the boyos before crumpling into the pit. Unforgettable.

Perry: The Starline .56-50 brass is all ready to go. Can you find some over there? By the way, I fired some leftover Spencer handloads in a Swedish rolling block in 12X44 and they were amazingly accurate in spite of being so short for the chamber.

I have a 99 in .250-3000 from the 1940s with that 1:14 twist. Closer I get to 100 grains, the bigger the groups, but it sure is minute of deer as far as I can use that Lyman tang peep.

Shoulda bought it ...

I was at a small local gun show today, and came very close to buying an old Savage Sporter -- Model 23??-- in .32-20. The stock had a mended crack in the wrist behind the reciever, the trigger was way too light, and the reciever had at least 9 holes drilled into it. But the gun was solid and the bor...

Points well taken. My own sense is that Capstick is a hero to some folks, and I have simply gotten old enough to grow weary of most heroes except one: He was born a long time ago in a very small town in the Galilee and worked at a simple trade, carpentry.
