I use those CB shorts to pop squirrels that try to get into my attic. Out of my Marlin 39A they are very quiet. It is best to shoot them twice I have learned.

I second the 10-22 with the 25 round mag. It doesn't kick, doesn't need to be super maintained, and once upon a time you could practice with it cheap.

A lot of times you can dimple the bottom of the dovetail to tighten it up. Also you can tap the ears down to tighten it up.

Re: 308 vs 243

Those are both great rounds and I have killed deer with both. Now I use the 243 if I am not using the 30-30. The 243 is plenty powerful for deer. I have killed deer with it out to 250 yards and that is a long shot for me. No gun will do right if the hit is sloppy, but assuming a good hit you will no...

This is an interesting pic of a guy with a big wolf and a Marlin of some kind. This is a pic of a pic so it might be hard to see but he is holding a half mag carbine with an action like a 336 or 1893. This pic is from the 2009 Alaska hunting regs book cover someone showed me. I would start at 25 yards before going back to 100. Like some of the other guys I have found levers don't like sandbags. I always put my hand on the forearm between it and the bag like I was holding it normally.

The 308 is a very powerful cartridge. It is more than you need for most critters. There is nothing wrong with using it. It has power to spare.

Re: trimming and crimping 30-30

Lee makes a good case trimming tool that goes on your drill. That way you never have to set a trimmer. Easy and always the same. You need a tight enough crimp that your bullet is not pushed back into the case. That can cause too much pressure if it gets seated too deeply. Usually if you crimp enough...

Just a fallen world. So don't miss a chance to demonstrate Gods love to someone. Let your light shine. If ...
