Winchester 94 Receiver sights drill holes
Gentlemen, I know that Winchester started drilling and tapping the receivers from the factory to accommodate a receiver sight in around 1952, but when did they stop doing it? There is a Winchester at the local shop which looks to me like its early eighties vintage, pretty mint, and I was thinking bu...

Guys, talk me into a Marlin .30-30. I gave my Winchester 94 to my father as a retirement gift so I don't have a 30/30 anymore. We have always been Winchester people. (We count Rossi 92's as Winchesters) But its been a nearly a couple of years and I thought I could live well enough with my Rossi .44/...

I am onto my third Rossi, two carbines and a octagonal rifle. (Actually four - my old man started me on his one back in the 1980's, had the puma head on the side, and a saddle ring. THat was the start of it.) I dont know what grade of Rossi we get here in Australasia, and we have never even heard of...

Without confrontation in movies, plays or literature, there is no drama, and without drama there is no story worth listening to. Without it, the movie would be about a tank crew that drove across Europe in 1944 and had a pleasant time. My main problem with that film was the battalion of german soldi...

Prvi Partisan I've used has been over many cartridges in many rifles because I am cheap and because I make good reloading brass out of shooting it. I will generalise and say that it can shoot reasonably well in many rifles, but if it groups badly, it won't be your rifles fault.... The ammo is also i...

I have used PSB (Polyethylene Shot Buffer) in the .44-40 with cast bullets to replicate the early W.H.V (Winchester High Velocity) cartridge with good accuracy. I found that in addition to acting as a gas check under the cast bullet, it also resulted in more consistent velocities since the powder i...

Terry, My top load is 24 grains of H4227 (AR2205) under a 200 grain Hornady XTP and I get 1632 fps - this is a max load in the current ADI manual, intended for Win 92 and Marlin 94's. You may be right...the middle 21 grain group size is actually bigger than the right hand 22 grain one, but a horizontal group result like that when I am target shooting with open sights, is often a result of me concentrating on getting the elevation right, and letting the left-and-right go hang... o...

OKay let look at this for a moment. If you have a Rossi rifle with a buckhorn rear sight, then I believe you will have a brass bead front sight. This is a little bit different from the carbine that has a flat blade and notch rear sight. The front sight bead is used like this - it is put down low in ...

I thought about this afterwards....a .45/70 with the right bullet, possibly a 500 grain FMJ, is going to go right through that T rex, and if you punch a hole in his lungs its going to kill him in a few minutes at the most, and a bullet through the heart valve will produce a dead dinosaur fairly effi...
