28 grains of Lil'Gun gives 1400 fps or so using the 500 grain Hornady XTP. A friend loads those but my guess is that's a pretty maximum-end load. The use of a cast bullet with that load would likely give higher velocity and/or lower pressure from my understanding. I know people DO shoot cast bullets...

I'd probably just upgrade the scope and keep the mount on it.

After all, that IS the way many of those vintage guns were equipped, and used, quite successfully.

No reason to limit to what the manufacturer set them up for out-the-door; most of the best firearms are NOT 'stock items'.

I don't know that I got a 'deal' on it, but I bought my 50 Beowulf upper from Cabela's a few years back, and LOVE it. I'm sure the other 45 caliber uppers are sweet, too, but there isn't any of them that has anything about it that is better than the Beowulf 50 caliber. Just get it and have fun....ma...
