I picked up an older 39A about a month ago off of Gunbroker, found out it was made in 1954. Sweet! I got to shoot it for the 1st time today, it is quite a shooter.

I'm going to have to look for another of these.

OS, where did you fish out of?

I use to do a lot of fishing out of Morro Bay, San Luis Obispo and that area. Had some great salmon runs out of Morro Bay.

I never did do any tuna fishing though. Looks great!

Hobie, quit trying to talk him into it. I want it. A little Karma return to me. I gave mine to my best friend when he retired and got married all in the same week.

I have had an ammo wallet for about 30 years, it hold 6 rounds. So with 4 in the mag plus 6 I have 10 rounds readily available.

Marlin 39A date of manuf.

Is there a website where you can get an idea of when a Marlin rifle was made by serial #? Ruger does a nice job of this.

I've fired 6 rounds of 160 grain thru my 336 and they did well at 100yds. I paid 21.50 for the 1st box and then found it at a gun show last week for 15. I bought 5 boxes. And I don't even hunt.

Well I'm guess I'm gonna have to move it inside, clean out a closet to the shed where the ammo was gonna go.

Build a rack in the closet and store the ammo cans there. I've got too much money tied up in all this to just blow it :) Oh wait, thats what you are supposed to do with ammo...

Is there plywood from the front to the back or just air between the 2x4s?

Thanks man,

The G.I. ammo cans usually have a rubber gasket in the lid, so I've seen. Will this keep out the humidity? Mostly my storage is going to be located in an uncontrolled temperature environment. Garage or shed. It will be exposed to heat and cold, humidity can reach 75% in the summer with temps as high...

OT ammo storage

I need some ideas on a cabinet to store ammo, loaded rounds that is. Over the past few months I have bought a LOT of ammo. The safe is over flowing. Is a metal cabinet a bad idea in case of fire? The ammo is going to be kept either in the garage or a wood storage building, "shed" If that m...
