Re: Ah-- just give me whatever ammo you have to shoot in my gun

Did you notice that you could see the bullets flying when he shot the .38 spc? They must be going really slow with the maybe 2" smooth bore.

They need to have a barrel - the longer 9mm was a step in the right direction. A .22 adapter with a long barrel could be useful, I guess.

No big deal - just call USGS nest time prior to testing so they know what they are seeing.

Re: N.E. Earthquake This Evening ! !

More of a tremor? I guess things aren't really built with earthquakes in mind there, so even the small ones can cause some damage? I know there was a tremor in TN when I was there once. I woke up just prior to it like I usually do, but most people slept through it or didn't notice it, but it still c...

.348 Brass is Available

The other day I was talking to someone about the lack of .348 brass. He is an ammo manufacturer and has had it on back-order from several sources for 3 to 5 years. I had contacted several brass manufacturers suggesting that they begin to run .348 brass, but all said there was no demand for it. I sta...

Re: New Model 71

I would be really excited about Winchester bringing another run of these to the market (well, I am in a way, because I hope it means that there will be a bump in ammo and brass availability) except I can see it has the tang safety and rebounding hammer. At first I did not mind these features too gre...

Re: Somewhat OT but about gun stuff. anyone use Painters Tape

Hadn't thought about it. I always have tons of it. I use it all the time, but for painting guns. I have some ammo boxes that are tough to keep closed when traveling, but tape tears them up worse. This is what I use it for: http://762precision.files.wordpress.com/2009/01/savage-rascal-pink-girls-22-r...

Re: Alaska - rifles and COLD storage

I was drilling in the canyon leading into Valdez working on the flood repair one year. It was only between 10 and 15 below, 20 below a couple times, but the wind was whipping through the canyon so bad that there was no way to stay warm. I wore everything I had. Usually, you can stand behind the oil ...

Re: Alaska - rifles and COLD storage

In Alaska we don't really count wind chill in temperatures, and it makes no difference to firearms (I know in places like the midwest or north east, many times when people talk about temps you have to subtract the wind chill to get actual temp). The big deal with cold is with the firing pin and spri...

Re: 348 Winchester vs. tundra grizzly

Very pretty bear. I was hoping to hunt a bear on my way through Nome this fall, but unfortunately, things took longer than I hoped and travel was messed up by Era being shut down by FAA, so I only had a couple days in Nome each time I went through. I wanted to shoot one for a video of the Beowulf t...
