Well, I am far from an expert in this area but I would look at 416 Rem or maybe if you have some time - see if Ruger comes out with the 416 that I've heard is on the way. This of course is a necked up 375 Ruger. It'd be a better cartridge from several standpoints - better than higher pressure rounds...

I would suggest the XS sights - they are durable and fully adjustable - I'd go with a large bead for the front sight though - like a Marlbles with large brass bead.

If you are deer hunting with it - that's fine too - these will work well for that as well.

My yougest son is left eye dominant and right handed (but he's very ambidexterous) and I taught him to shoot left handed. I just bought him a new deer gun too - a left hand Savage stainless/synthetic in 30-06.

I did not know that H&R made paradox barrels as described. The only ones I knew of were the Brit guns.
